Working To Address The Economic Crisis As Congress continues to address the current economic crisis many of you have questions about the resources that may be available to you, your family, your business, and your community. That’s why we created this website, and will update it frequently, as a clearinghouse of information, fact sheets, and documents that could be useful in answering your questions. Preventing Home Foreclosures – At the heart of our current economic crisis is the rise of mortgage foreclosures, a growing problem in our area. If you or someone you know is facing foreclosure I want you to know that there are resources available to help. Healthcare If You Lose Your Job – On top of losing their jobs, millions Americans in recent months have also lost the healthcare coverage that they and their families depend on in the process. Many workers who lose their jobs have access to transitional healthcare coverage called COBRA while they search for employment. Unfortunately, such coverage is often priced so high that it’s out of the reach of those who have been laid off. As part of the recently passed American Recovery and Reinvestment Act workers may be entitled to a 65% reduction in COBRA premiums.
