Working To Address The Economic Crisis

As Congress continues to address the current economic crisis many of you have questions about the resources that may be available to you, your family, your business, and your community.  That’s why we created this website, and will update it frequently, as a clearinghouse of information, fact sheets, and documents that could be useful in answering your questions.  If you have specific questions that are not addressed by this information, or if my staff can be of any other assistance, please do not hesitate to contact my office.  This economic crisis is affecting all of us, and I am committed to doing everything I can to help our communities through it.

Sincerely,

Lynn Woolsey
Member of Congress

Recovery.gov –

For the most up to date information on how the recently passed American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is being used to generate job creation and economic growth, please visit the official recovery website – www.recovery.gov; On it you will find timely information on the steps that have already been taken, as well as a full breakdown of how your tax dollars are being used, and where they are being spent.  President Obama and those of us in Congress are striving to make this recovery process as open and transparent as possible – because you deserve to know how your tax dollars are being spent.

Preventing Home Foreclosures –

At the heart of our current economic crisis is the rise of mortgage foreclosures, a growing problem in our area.  If you or someone you know is facing foreclosure I want you to know that there are resources available to help.  The following PDF document includes a comprehensive list of local, state, and national organizations that are dedicated to helping you prevent foreclosure.  If you have any further questions about the resources that are available please do not hesitate to contact my office, the sooner the better.

You can also learn more about President Obama's plan to make home ownership more affordable by visiting the following website.

Healthcare If You Lose Your Job –

On top of losing their jobs, millions Americans in recent months have also lost the healthcare coverage that they and their families depend on in the process.  Many workers who lose their jobs have access to transitional healthcare coverage called COBRA while they search for employment.  Unfortunately, such coverage is often priced so high that it’s out of the reach of those who have been laid off.  As part of the recently passed American Recovery and Reinvestment Act workers may be entitled to a 65% reduction in COBRA premiums.  For further information on whether you may qualify for such a reduction please consult the following PDF document.

Opportunities For Local Businesses And Governments –

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act provides funding that is available to a range of local and state governments, as well as non-profit organizations and other groups.  I have prepared a comprehensive guidebook to help my constituents understand the opportunities that are available, as well as how to apply for them.  You can read this constituent guidebook by clicking on the below PDF document.
